Vilitra 5 mg contains vardenafil 5 mg, a prescription medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men. It belongs to a group of medicines called PDE-5 inhibitors, which increase blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation to help achieve and maintain an erection. It does not increase sexual desire and only works when a man is sexually aroused.
How to take it
Take it 30–60 minutes before sexual activity.
It can be taken with or without food, although a high-fat meal may delay its effect.
Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours unless your doctor instructs otherwise.
Common side effects
Headache
Flushing (warmth or redness of the face)
Nasal congestion
Indigestion
Dizziness
Important precautions
Do not take vardenafil if you use nitrate medicines (such as nitroglycerin for chest pain), because the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
Tell your doctor if you have significant heart disease, low blood pressure, severe liver disease, or have been advised to avoid sexual activity for medical reasons.
Seek immediate medical care if you have chest pain, sudden vision or hearing loss, or an erection lasting more than 4 hours.
